Definitions
- PLU - Price Look Up
- Product - Any inventory item managed by Lock Stock
- Product Type - A category of your choosing that your "Products" may belong to. The "Product Types" that you choose to define will depend on the nature of your organisation. You may, for example, wish to distinguish "Refreshments" from "Hardware".
- Purchase Unit - The units by which the product are purchased. For example, the purchase unit of A4 copier paper may be a "box".
- Sales Unit - The units by which the product are managed internally. For example, the retail unit of A4 copier paper may be a "ream".
- Unit Ratio - The number of "Retail Units" per "Purchase Unit". For the above A4 copier paper the unit ratio may be "5".
- Department - A "Department" is any place that "Products" may be moved from and to, with the exception of "Suppliers". A "Department" may be included in the Organisation's inventory or not. If a "Product" is moved from an inventory department to a non-inventory department, the "Products" moved are no longer a part of the organisations inventory.
- Movement - A record of a "Product" being moved from one "Department" or "Supplier" to another
- Supplier - An external source of "Products"
- Order - The record of a request for "Products" from a "Supplier"
- Authority - A user that is able to give permission for "Orders" to be submitted
- Stock check - A record of the actual number of units of a "Product" in a "Department" established by a physical check
